The Kent Spitfires will be looking to put back to back Twenty 20 defeats behind them when they visit the Sussex Sharks on Friday night.
Losses to both the Hampshire Royals and the Middlesex Panthers has left the Spitfires fourth in the Southern Division, some five points behind leaders Sussex and are desperate to get back to winning ways to stand a chance of making the Quarter Finals.
Rob Key is set to return to the Spitfires squad for Friday night’s cricial match, having missed Tuesday’s fixture against Middlesex Panthers due to a neck injury. Simon Cook also joins the squad for this match in place of Fabian Cowdrey, with the remainder of the squad unchanged.
Brendan Nash is expected to be fit in time to take his place in the side after sustaining a wrist injury in Tuesday night’s game that saw him drop down the batting order.
Geraint Jones, who captained the Spitfires on Tuesday in Key’s absence commented ahead of Friday’s match; “They’re undefeated and on top of the table and they’ve been playing well, but we generally have good games down there and the good thing is we have a bit of time to prepare.
“That’s a good thing and I think we should have learnt a lot from the last two defeats. The Sussex wicket probably won’t be disimilar to the Canterbury one, so the bowlers should be prepared for that and I’m happy with the way the boys are batting.”
The full squad to face Sussex Sharks will be: Rob Key, Sam Billings, Azhar Mahmood, Darren Stevens, Brendan Nash, Sam Northeast, Adam Ball, Geraint Jones, Matt Coles, James Tredwell, Mark Davies, Alex Blake, Simon Cook.
The game is scheduled to start at 7:10pm. For all the latest updates, follows @ksnlive or @ksncricket on twitter.
